West Lothian Employment Survey and Business Structure 2003
The estimated number of jobs in West Lothian has increased by around 2% from 67,000 in 2002, to 68,700.
The number of private sector businesses in West Lothian stands at its highest ever level - just under 4,500.
The 10 largest private sector employers account for 22% of all private sector jobs.
Small businesses (those employing 10 people or less) account for 83% of all businesses based in West Lothian and provide over a fifth of all private sector employment.
18% of respondents said they expected to increase their employment over the next 6 months, and 1 in 4 businesses said they would increase employment over the next 12 months.
